Working From Home

When Covid first struck, the business world was in shock. How do we work with social distancing guidelines? Luckily, technology has helped us get to this modern point so we can work from home and still be productive.

Fast forward today, the world is slowly returning to a normal state and workers are refusing to go back to the office because they see the advantages of working from home (WFH). Others dont see their advantages. Read our pros and cons below.

Today, working from home is the New Normal. Learn how to adapt by reading this blog

Flexibility

In this fast world that we live in, flexibility in your job is very important. Many people concluded that they can balance their work and life more properly since they started working from home. This is all thanks to the flexibility that remote work can offer.

Creating positive habits

Studies have shown that people who are working from home started developing positive habits such as creating a morning routine, cooking healthy food at home, and spending more time with friends and family. Also, people nowadays have more time to themselves to develop hobbies and interests. In addition, they can enjoy the benefits of customizing their home office to help them feel good by creating a positive work environment.

Lack of motivation

Although WFH brings positives there are also some cons associated with remote work. Less than half of the people reported a lack of motivation while working from home. They cited home distractions like pets, children, noises, neighbors, etc.  Furthermore, extraverts have been the most affected by this change of work behavior. They reported higher struggles with social isolation when working from home.

What about the future?

It is estimated that 61% of people are neutral or comfortable with returning to the workplace, but 39% of people said they are not ready to go back yet. 44% of the people would prefer a hybrid system: part-time at home and part-time in the office. Alic Consulting thinks flexibility and hybrid workplaces create modern businesses that will be the future of all business.

Things that might help

The best thing about working remotely is that there are so many tools out there to help us in these situations. Anything from Shift, Zoom, Slack, MS Teams, WhatsApp, Viber, or Google Chat are helping this system be possible. It is important to give your team members a platform where they can communicate in groups or privately. Conduct surveys to understand how your team and staff are feeling. This is the closest we can replicate sharing of information that is still happening at office water coolers.
